Virtual Provider Learning Sessions for Latent Tuberculosis (TB) Infection
In November and December 2020, IDTA@JSI worked with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) to host three online learning sessions on latent TB infection services. The audience for these Virtual Provider Learning Sessions were providers from agencies receiving funding from the MDPH Bureau of Infectious Disease and Laboratory Sciences (BIDLS) to provide infectious disease services, including TB testing and latent TB infection services through the HIV/HCV/STI/TB Prevention, Linkage, and Retention in Care and Treatment Request for Response (DPH RFR Document Number: 181926). Virtual Provider Learning Session 1 - Risk Assessment and Testing
Thursday, November 12, 2020, 12:00 – 2:00pm
In this session, participants received an overview of risk assessment, including the rationale for conducting a risk assessment, risk assessment strategies, the MDPH risk assessment tool, and how to talk with individuals about risk assessment. Topics discussed also included an overview of testing for TB infection including testing options, the operational benefits and challenges of PPD and IGRA, the next steps after testing, and how to talk with individuals about TB testing. Participants heard from experienced providers about how their agency operationalized these services.

Virtual Provider Learning Session 2 - Adherence Support
Thursday, November 19, 2020, 9:30 – 11:30am
In this session, participants received an overview of adherence strategies that agencies are using for latent TB infection and other conditions. Participants learned about successful solutions to adherence challenges, barriers that individuals face in adhering to treatment, agency challenges in tracking and supporting adherence, and the principles of adherence specific to latent TB infection.

Virtual Provider Learning Session 3 - Reporting and Analysis
Thursday, December 10, 2020, 10 – 12:00pm
In this session, participants received an overview of an what data agencies are required to report to BIDLS/MDPH, the forms needed to collect these data, data management regarding safety and confidentiality, and communicating with MDPH about data. Participants learned about the data you can collect outside of what agencies are required to send to MDPH, and how to use data for review of services and continuous quality improvement.
